Initially commissioned for Grantpirrie Editions this is my only foray into printmaking to date, despite studying it at TAFE in the 1990’s. The original image was a tourist style snapshot taken by either my partner Emily Schinzig or myself whilst in Berlin. I always liked the contradiction between the banality of tourism and the historical and political significance of the locations in which tourists inevitably congregate. The process of printing the work and the labor involved seemed to somehow re-memorialise the snapshot moment.
Hopefully one day I will return to these works and print more!
