The Copse - Part 1, Arlo Mountford 2013

The Copse - Part 1, 2013

Installed at Sutton Project Space, The Copse Part 1 borrowed from the recent exhibition history of the space and combined it with the western Art historical canon, sandwiching the two together. Part of a broader project, (see The Copse Parts 2 and 3) The Copse represents an ongoing preoccupation with the discrepancy between local and international discourses on Art. The notion of the copse was in response to Heidegger's concept of 'lichtung' or clearing, Heidegger's metaphor for the head space necessary to have an original idea.
